Unique Outdoor Living Group complete decking refurbishment at luxurious Magna Carta Park property in Old Windsor

Traditional balconies, terraces, and walkway decking materials such as timber were once regarded as a popular addition to properties across the UK & Ireland. However, in recent years alternative materials, such as aluminium, have begun to offer far greater benefits while maintaining the aesthetic values many homeowners, leaseholders, and designers hold so dear.

Magna Carta Park is an exclusive estate of luxury townhouses and apartments across 57 acres of woodland, and AliDeck has been fortunate enough to partner with Unique Outdoor Living Group (UOLG) to bring a new lease of life to one property’s balcony decking. The property owner was seeking a solution for their balcony that would provide controlled evacuation of rainwater to protect users on the patio area below in times of adverse weather.

AliDeck Senior Board and Balcony Drainage system provides the solution to the existing problem while futureproofing the balcony decking

The property in question benefits from a rear balcony deck that overlooks the scenic garden landscape. Below the balcony is a patio area often used as an entertainment space for outdoor dining and social occasions as it seats an outdoor furniture set amongst other décor, making it an ideal location for residents to relax in the summer months. However, this space can now be effectively used all year round thanks to our balcony drainage system and aluminium decking creating a more robust and secure platform on the balcony above.

AliDeck supplied our 30mm Senior Flat Decking boards to cover the 21m² balcony deck. Once the pre-existing timber decking boards were removed, the new aluminium decking was installed within the steel subframe which provides its own support frame for the boards to be installed without the need for joists. The benefit of using AliDeck’s range of decking boards is that they can be installed directly into the existing steel or concrete framework.

The inclusion of our Senior Access Gutter will provide a safe and effectively controlled wastewater management system that will recycle the water into the garden’s flowerbeds. This is managed by the gutter system directing the rainwater or spillages into two drainpipes running along the stairwell. The imperforate layer created by our balcony decking and drainage system will create a sheltered space for the patio below.

AliDeck’s Senior Board and Balcony Drainage system are fire rated to A2-s1, d0 and A2fl-s1 standards, well within the requirements of the current regulations for compliance, meeting the guidelines of BS5879:2020. Aluminium will also withstand the test of time and the effects of mother nature, which is more than can be said for timber decking. It also has notable corrosion resistance which makes it an ideal choice in applications requiring robust longevity.

Our boards were supplied using one of our ten standard colours, in this case it was the Quartz Grey (RAL 7039) textured powder-coat. Not only does the new balcony decking truly complement the luxurious property but it also blends in flawlessly with the surrounding environment. The boards will last six times longer than the previous timber decking and require little-to-no maintenance outside of regular cleaning to maintain the clean high-quality finish.
