Cutting aluminium balcony decking boards to length and width, and cutting radius cuts for curved balconies

Precision is key when manufacturing decking boards for bespoke balcony designs. Traditional balconies are generally more simplistic in terms of their shape, but modern-day construction is beginning to see a higher demand for unique variations. Thankfully, AliDeck are leading the way in high-quality aluminium balcony product design and our highly skilled engineering and production teams can meet even the most complex specifications.

Unique, aesthetically pleasing environments are in high demand over recent years. Therefore, aluminium decking boards may require cutting without compromising the board quality or finish, nor harming the board’s structural integrity.

We do offer a cut-to-length service for a modest production charge, where we can cut ordered decking boards to precise lengths as required and despatch in matched bundles or balcony-specific packs.

This can be a real time-saver for our customers and is a real boon in instances where there is limited space on site for storing stock lengths or setting up tools to cut. Experienced installers, though, often prefer to order standard stock 4m or 6m lengths of decking and cut to required length themselves at installation for simplicity’s sake.

No special equipment is required other than a chop saw with sufficient cutting blade. We offer some advice on blades, saws and cutting materials on our website via the decking Installation & Maintenance page, including an Installation guide with step-by step instructions for cutting to width, length, and around various obstacles.

Curved balcony structures will require varying precise cuts at the board ends and edges to meet finish requirements, but aluminium decking boards are fully capable of withstanding radius cuts, which are perfectly achievable and permissible providing the main fixings channel for the board is uncompromised.

Similarly, sharp-angled diagonal cuts to our aluminium decking boards and joists are able to be made to suit the situation, as long as care is made that any especially thin cut board ends are adequately supported beneath. When working on projects that will pose challenges due to requiring many curved/radius or diagonal cuts, it is advised that customers request additional board lengths in case of unforeseen circumstances in these slightly tricky conditions.

The AliDeck team is always happy to offer help and advice at any point, so we’d always recommend getting in touch to discuss any non-standard installation requirements. We’re extremely proud of our service delivery and the success that our customers consistently achieve in their projects using AliDeck.
