Proving Compliance with Regulations
Compliance with building regulations is paramount in the construction industry, influencing our decision-making process and inspiring the creation of new products that excel in utility and safety. This commitment recently led us to subject our AliRail Juliet and AliRail Vertical Infill Spindle Balustrade to retesting for load performance.
Originally tested Summer 2022, ongoing innovation and refinement prompted a second evaluation to ensure both systems continued to not only meet but exceed Building Regulations. The British Standard BS 6180: 2011 for barriers in and around buildings outlines specific requirements for domestic and residential settings, and both AliRail Juliet and AliRail Vertical Infill Balustrade easily surpassed these standards during retesting.
Exceeding Expectations: Testing at Higher Load Values
Confident in the exceptional performance of our systems, we decided to test them at a higher load value of 1.5kN on the rail, infill, and spindle. This elevated rating demonstrates compliance for areas where people might congregate, such as restaurants, bars, and other commercial environments.
We’re thrilled to report that both AliRail Juliet and AliRail Vertical Infill Spindle Balustrade not only met but exceeded expectations in all tests under the 1.5kN loading. This success not only benefits Alideck but also our customers and the broader industry, offering proof that aluminium is a viable alternative to steel architectural metalwork for balconies.
