Flexible Aluminium Decking Solutions for Roof Terrace Podiums

The products used at India House included our Junior Flat Balcony Board in the contemporary Beige Grey finish, paired with our robust Supa Joist and Low Joist support systems. This combination allowed for the construction of bespoke podium structures across the terrace, providing dedicated zones for planters and seating — maximising usability and aesthetics.

Thanks to its clever design and build-up versatility, our Junior Flat Board and AliClad Lite was the ideal choice. With a generous span capacity and slim profile, it allowed for rapid installation even across varied subframe levels, while still ensuring compliance with BS 8579:2020 guidance and Building Safety Regulations.

With AliDeck’s 60-year minimum life expectancy and 30-year warranty, it has significantly futureproofed the rooftop space. Our non-combustible, Class A2-s1, d0 fire-rated boards mean that the terrace now offers a safe, regulation-compliant environment for office workers to enjoy.

Our aluminium decking is also highly slip-resistant, making it a safe choice for exposed rooftops where weather conditions can quickly change underfoot traction. Crucially for rooftop settings, our powder-coated aluminium boards do not retain heat like timber or composite materials. Even on hot summer days, the walking surface remains comfortable and safe — a common concern raised for rooftop communal areas.

The entire system was powder-coated in-house to the rigorous Qualicoat Seaside Standard, exceeding industry expectations. Using a Class 2 Powder Coating finish, and achieving an etching preparation of 2 grams per square metre through a detailed six-stage testing process, ensures a high-quality, resilient surface resistant to corrosion and UV fading.
